Outline of Organization

・Name : Japanese Heart Failure Society

・Object of the Society
It is the Society’s object to contribute to the advancement of medicine, the promotion of health, and the improvement of welfare in our country. To this end, the Society will provide a forum for the presentation of research pertaining to heart failure and other fields related to heart failure, and promote research in heart failure through the exchange of knowledge and information. The Society will also raise awareness and understanding of heart failure among the general public.

1) Hosting scientific meetings and seminars
2) Publication of academic materials
3) Communicating and collaborating with related academic organizations in Japan and abroad
4) Any other activities necessary to achieve the goals of this society

History of the Society

1996, July 13 The Japanese Heart Failure Society is established
in response to the increased interest in refractory heart failure, especially in the studies on the pathomechanism of heart failure and large-scale clinical trials and their results, the Heart Failure Society of America and the Heart Failure Association of the European Society of Cardiology were established. The Japanese Heart Failure Society was established against this backdrop in 1996 by the promoters listed below and held its first General and Scientific Meeting in October 1997 at the Kyoto International Conference Center in Takaragaike, Kyoto. Members at the time numbered 900.

1997 Begins quarterly publication of “Journal of Cardiac Failure” with the Heart Failure Society of America (in English) Begins semiannual publication of “News Letter”
2001 Changes publication frequency of “News Letter” from semiannual to quarterly
2002 Changes publication frequency of “Journal of Cardiac Failure” to six times a year
2006 Begins hosting “ICD・CRT Joint Training Seminar” with the Japan Heart Rhythm Society, a non-profit organization
2006 B Member System is introduced, expanding participation to include paramedical staff
2009 Nursing Subcommittee is formed
2010 Begins hosting Educational Seminars initiated by the Nursing Subcommittee
2011 Changes publication frequency of “Journal of Cardiac Failure” to twelve times a year
2012 Changes name of Nursing Subcommittee to Committee for the Promotion of Medical Team Treatment
2012 Changes the name of Educational Seminars to Educational Seminars Hosted by the Committee for the Promotion of Medical Team Treatment
2013 Begins hosting public open lectures
2013 Prepares and publicizes “Points of Attention in the Treatment of Heart Failure Using BNP and NT-ProBNP Assays”
2013 Holds Joint Symposiums at the Heart Failure Association of the European Society of Cardiology and the Heart Failure Society of America with these societies (planned)
2013 Establishes the “Japanese Heart Failure Society Award” (planned)
