2007年度韓国食品科学工学会大会でのアミノ酸サプリメントに関するシンポジウム

去る本年6月20日から6月22日の期間に韓国食品科学工業学会（Korean Society of Food Science and Technology:
KoSFoST）の第74回年次大会が釜山において開催された。この大会の中で、"Current Issues on Functionality
and Safety of Amino Acid Supplements"と題したシンポジウムがSeoul National大学Geun
Eog Ji教授を中心として企画され、味の素の木村毅氏と私が日本からの発表者として招待された。Ji教授は、この学会のFunctional Food
Divisionの議長である。
シンポジウムでは、以下に示すように日本から2題と韓国から2題の発表があった。

1. Dr. Takeshi Kimura (Ajinomoto, Japan)
"Movement towards international safety and regulatory guidelines for
amino acid supplements"
2. Dr. Yoshiharu Shimomura (Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan)
"Nutraceutical effects of branched-chain amino acids on muscle and
brain"
3. Dr. Oran Kwon (KFDA, Korea)
"National policy for functional foods including amino acids"
4. Dr. Kiwon Lim (Konkuk University, Korea)
"Physiological effects of amino acids in humans"
興味深いことに、このシンポジウムのスポンサーはKorea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA)であり、韓国でもアミノ酸をサプリメントとして使用することへの関心が高まりつつあることが推察される。シンポジウムでは、100名弱の人が熱心にそれぞれの演題を聞いていた。今後、韓国でもアミノ酸の機能性を一層見直していくことが予想される。 |
