Akira Toki

Dear Colleagues,

It is with my great pleasure to open the 48th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Surgeons (JSPS48) during the period of July 20 to July 22, 2011. The Annual Meeting will be attended by about 1,000 doctors involved in pediatric surgery from all over Japan. The JSPS48 will be held at TFT (Tokyo Fashion Town) located in Odaiba (Modern fashion town in Tokyo)
The population of children declined in this recent year and the elderly population is forecasted to reach 49% of Japan’s total population in 2050. Therefore, we have decided the theme of the JSPS48 to be: "Children; Bridge into the Future" to focus our vision for the sake of caring for these precious children. We must create a society in which children can live in peace for health care.
For the JSPS48, we have invited UNICEF ambassador, Agnes Chan, PhD., prof. Hiroyuki Shimada in the USA and Prof. Jiin-Haur Chuang in Taiwan for special lecture. In addition, I would like to organize a number of symposiums such as health insurance and work-life balance for pediatric surgeons.
To account for the summer season, eco and Cool Biz is recommended.
We are looking forward to welcoming you to Odaiba Japan in July 2011.
Thank you for your support and cooperation.
